Vinyl plank installation in Richmond, BC
Project reference: Vinyl plank · Richmond, BC

Discuss the room before the colour.

Tell your installer how the room will be used and whether you have noticed water, odour, dampness or previous flooring damage. Existing problems need assessment rather than being hidden by a new finish.

Check below-grade approval for the exact product.

Vinyl, laminate and engineered wood include many different products. Review the manufacturer’s permitted locations, substrate requirements and installation method. Do not approve a category in general because another home used it successfully.

Understand what a water-related claim covers.

A plank’s warranty does not automatically cover the subfloor, every seam or an unresolved water problem. Ask what conditions are excluded and which moisture-control components are required by the installation system.

Allow for preparation and finished heights.

Include slab condition, doors, transitions and any stairs in the plan. A new floor may need to meet an existing bathroom, utility area or landing. Preparation quantities and the finished assembly should be established before those connections are finalised.

Bring useful information to the measurement.

A rough room plan, photos of the existing surface and the product information help make the visit productive. Our Richmond vinyl gallery is a material and installation reference; it does not establish approval for a different basement.
