Describe everyday life in the room.
Consider the pet’s size, activity, feeding area and routes through the home. A quiet bedroom and a frequently used entry may call for different priorities. Tell your flooring supplier how the room is used rather than selecting by a pet-friendly badge alone.
Read the limits of the promise.
Compare the actual product’s scratch, stain and liquid-exposure terms. A wear classification or layer thickness does not, by itself, guarantee protection from every claw mark or accident. Ask what the warranty excludes and what cleaning is required.
Check texture and appearance at home.
View a sample in your room and think about how the colour and surface will show dust or fur. The finish you enjoy looking at should also fit the maintenance routine you can realistically keep.
Plan care as part of the choice.
Use the specific floor’s care instructions. Shaw’s hardwood guidance includes removing grit, using furniture protection and keeping pet nails maintained. Cleaning products and moisture limits should be checked for the product you actually install.
Keep installation questions separate.
Our Langley laminate project illustrates an installed finish and its trim; it is not a pet-performance test. The installation scope still needs to address the substrate, product compatibility and transitions.
